artagena has always been one of those cities that holds its secrets quietly — cobblestoned alleys that lead
nowhere and everywhere, balconies draped in bougainvillea, mornings that smell like coffee and the sea.
But lately, the world is starting to pay attention.
Luxury Travel Magazine recently published a beautiful piece on what they’re calling
“The Night Manager Effect” — the wave of international interest in Cartagena sparked by the BBC series
filming its second season right here, in the UNESCO-listed streets of our Old Town.
“The best way to explore this city is through people who live and breathe it every day.”
— Portia Hart, co-founder of Nuestra Cartagena
We couldn’t agree more. At Nía, we’ve been here since January 2024 — baking croissants before the city
wakes up, layering lulo curd onto tart shells, and watching tourists and locals share the same small tables.
That daily ritual, for us, is what Cartagena really tastes like.
We’re honored that Nía Bakery is among the places highlighted in the article as part of
Nuestra Cartagena — a collective of independent hospitality and cultural businesses
that believe authentic travel means meeting the people who actually live it.
It’s a community we’re proud to belong to.
If you’re planning a visit — or dreaming of one — we’d love to be part of your Cartagena story.
Come find us in the Historic Center. We’ll have something fresh out of the oven.
